Protesters Storm Israeli Parliament

Protesters Storm Israeli Parliament

  • Family members of Israeli hostages stormed into an Israeli parliamentary committee session on Monday, demanding the government negotiate the release of their loved ones

  • The protesters, numbering around 20, chanted, “Release them now, now, now!” and held signs reading, “You will not sit here while they die there”

  • The incident came after Israel’s government appeared to reject foreign-brokered deals to end the war in Gaza and secure the release of all hostages

  • Over three months after the Israel-Gaza war broke out, Hamas still has ~130 Israeli hostages

  • US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that after “a 10-day exhaustive search,” two missing Navy SEALs are now presumed dead

  • The SEALs went missing during a nighttime operation against a vessel suspected of transporting weapons to the Houthis in Yemen. While boarding the vessel off the coast of Somalia, one SEAL fell overboard. Another SEAL followed in a rescue attempt

  • CENTCOM said a rescue operation by US and allied forces searched 21,000 square miles

  • Amateur golfer Nick Dunlap won the PGA’s American Express tournament, making him the first amateur to win a PGA event in 33 years

  • Dunlap – a 20-year-old who plays for the Alabama Crimson Tide – finished with a record 29 under par across four rounds on the course, winning by just one stroke

  • The last amateur to win a PGA event was Phil Mickelson, who did so in 1991

  • “Such an impressive performance by Nick Dunlap,” Mickelson wrote on X following Dunlap’s victory

  • Elon Musk visited the Auschwitz death camp on Monday, saying afterward that social media would have made the Holocaust “impossible to hide”

  • Musk – who faced criticism last year for reposting what critics called an antisemitic comment – toured the camp with his son, a rabbi, a Holocaust survivor, and conservative commentator Ben Shapiro

  • During a Q&A session after the tour, Musk said social media would have prevented the Holocaust

  • “If there’d been social media it would have been impossible to hide,” he said. “Relentless pursuit of the truth is the goal of X [Twitter], to say what we want to say – even if it’s controversial”

  • At least two US soldiers were injured in Iraq on Saturday after their base came under attack

  • The US claimed Iran-backed militants operating in Iraq fired at least 10 rockets and seven ballistic missiles at the base, two of which evaded missile defense systems and struck the base

  • At least two US soldiers were injured in what analysts called the most effective strike against US forces in the region since October 7

  • The attack occurred after Iran accused Israel of bombing its forces in Syria’s capital, Damascus

  • In court filings, the mobster who stole Dorothy's ruby slippers featured in “The Wizard of Oz” said he did so to make “one last score”

  • Terry Jon Martin, 76, admitted last year to stealing the slippers, widely considered one of the most valuable props in film history, in 2005. He said he did so by using a sledgehammer to destroy a museum’s emergency exit

  • Per new filings, his lawyer said a mobster convinced Martin – who at that point had been retired from crime for ten years – to commit one last heist: “Old habits die hard,” his lawyer wrote

  • Martin reportedly ditched the shoes after learning that the rubies on the slippers weren’t real
